SCENE 1
Me: “¿Avery, Cómo se dice ‘student’s desk’ en español?” (How do you say “student’s desk” in Spanish? The answer is spelled "pupitre", and properly carries the stress on the second syllable).
Avery: “Poopy tray.”
(Several minutes of rolicking and puerile laughter ensues from the class)
Me (after finally calming the class down): “Euh. Hmm. Well, no. Try again, and put the stress in a different place.
Avery (looking confused): “Poopy traYYYYYYYY?”
SCENE 2

Heh. You've got to give the kid wise-ass points, though - it was a very clever (though "DUFUS!"-worthy) response to the question you asked...
p.s. - thanks for turning off the damned visual verification. I was going crazy not being able to comment on my favorite blogs....
Too funny. Reminds me of an email I got once of some funny exam answers. They were chock full of gold like this. :)
OK - that was so funny that I a) began sort of shrieking/laughing and then b) woke up the cat.
Thanks for making my night.
